Elizabeth Street United Methodist Church in Durham, North Carolina is a reconciling congregation born from the 2020 merger of Calvary UMC (founded in 1916 and the first Reconciling Congregation of the Carolinas in 2002) and Resurrection UMC. The church welcomes all people to encounter the transformative love of God just as they are, joyfully affirming and celebrating LGBTQ+ persons at all levels of church leadership and community life. As a Methodist congregation, Elizabeth Street UMC is grounded in the tradition of inclusive Christianity and serves both its local Durham community and the wider world.
