About Sisters Of Saint Joseph
The Sisters of Saint Joseph of Philadelphia is a Catholic religious congregation with roots tracing back to seventeenth-century France. Founded on the charism of unioning love—bringing neighbor to neighbor and neighbor to God—the community has ministered in hospitals, schools, orphanages, and community aid services since arriving in Philadelphia in 1847. Today, approximately 500 sisters and roughly 600 associates in mission continue their work across twelve states, responding to the urgent needs of the poor, marginalized, and vulnerable. The congregation stands in solidarity with movements for nonviolence and social justice, maintaining their historical commitment to spiritual and corporal works of mercy.
