About St. George Antiochian Orthodox Cathedral
St. George Antiochian Orthodox Cathedral is an Orthodox parish in Toledo with a long history in the local Syrian and Lebanese community. The church was built in 1919 and formally dedicated and consecrated on May 9, 1920. A Syrian School for instruction in the Arabic language began at the church in 1924/25. Saint George moved to its Woodley Road location in 1974, and the new cathedral there was consecrated on Sunday, July 7, 1974. The current Dean is the Very Rev. Archpriest Michael G. Shaheen. The parish also hosts an ethnic festival in the summer and an Annual Lebanese Dinner in the fall.
