Beaverton First United Methodist Church is a historic congregation established in 1843 as part of a Methodist camp meeting on the Tualatin plains, originally meeting in a log cabin before relocating to its present downtown location at 4th & Watson in 1885. As a Reconciling Congregation, the church welcomes all people regardless of age, economic status, ability, gender, sexual orientation, faith history, ethnicity, or marital status, recognizing everyone as a person of worth in the sight of God. The church worships in the Wesleyan tradition based on the teachings of John Wesley and emphasizes social justice as an integral part of its faith practice. For over 180 years, Beaverton First UMC has served as a vibrant community of believers committed to following the example of Jesus Christ and serving their community.
