About Sgi-Usa
SGI-USA Eugene is part of the most diverse Buddhist community in the United States, practicing Nichiren Buddhism centered on respect for the dignity of human life. Members engage in daily chanting practice at home and gather monthly for neighborhood discussion meetings to study Buddhist principles and share experiences of applying Buddhism to life's challenges. The community is rooted in Buddhist humanism—a philosophical perspective emphasizing the inherent dignity of all people and their capacity for positive transformation. With a global network of more than 11 million practitioners across 192 countries, SGI-USA promotes dialogue, nonviolence, and peace activities including human rights education and sustainable development. The Eugene group welcomes visitors interested in exploring a Buddhism that applies to daily life, from relationships to work, and invites those seeking to understand how Buddhist practice contributes to individual and community happiness.
