About Union Gospel Mission
Union Gospel Mission of Salem is an interdenominational church dedicated to serving homeless, impoverished, and vulnerable individuals and families in the Marion County area. Founded in 1953 by Christian businessmen concerned for homeless workers, the mission has grown significantly to include comprehensive services such as nourishing meals, safe shelter, job training, and recovery programs rooted in the transforming grace of Jesus Christ. The church operates multiple facilities including the Men's Mission, Simonka House for women and children, and Simonka Place in Keizer, each providing both immediate assistance and long-term stabilization and recovery support. Through their holistic approach combining spiritual care with practical human services, they help individuals discover new life in Christ while restoring dignity and hope to their community.
