About Mt Hermon Baptist Church
Mt. Hermon Baptist Church is a Baptist congregation in Amity with roots reaching back to 1786. It is considered the second oldest Baptist church west of the Allegheny Mountains. The congregation first built a log church building in 1788, followed by the “Red Frame” church house in 1793; a brick meeting house built in 1842 remains part of the church facility today. Mt. Hermon describes its purpose as “Reach, Teach and Equip.” Regular gatherings include Sunday School, Sunday worship, and a Thursday evening Bible study, with children’s ministry and youth group available as part of church life.
