About Holy Virgin Russian Orthodox
Holy Virgin Russian Orthodox Church in Carnegie, Pennsylvania has served the Orthodox faithful since its founding in 1909, when members of the local Russian, Carpatho-Russian, and Ukrainian communities established the parish to preserve their ancestral Orthodox faith. The church is distinguished by its three blue onion domes, a landmark visible from the surrounding area just eight miles west of downtown Pittsburgh. Over its ninety-five-year history, the parish has evolved into a welcoming pan-Orthodox community that conducts all services in English and maintains a robust liturgical calendar. The congregation offers comprehensive religious education for all ages, from preschool through adult Bible study, alongside active parish ministries including community dinners, traditional food preparation, and an established choir program. Under the pastoral leadership of V. Rev. George York, the parish continues its founding mission of living and transmitting Orthodox faith to future generations.
