First United Methodist Church in Downtown Erie, founded in 1826, is the oldest church building in Erie County and has served the diverse community of Erie for over 200 years. Located at 707 Sassafras Street, this historic congregation welcomes worshippers of all ages, perspectives, and backgrounds with a commitment to sharing their passion for Jesus Christ and leading people toward a deeper love and appreciation for God. The church offers two service options each Sunday: a contemporary service at 9:00 AM in Oxford Hall and a traditional service at 10:30 AM in the Sanctuary, with both available for live-streaming. Through the dedication of their leadership, pastors, and volunteers, First United Methodist continues its proud tradition of serving Erie's next generations and the surrounding areas with vibrant, inclusive worship.
