Christ Church, founded in 1695, is a historic Episcopal parish in Philadelphia that welcomed members of the Continental Congress during the American Revolution and hosted Presidents George Washington and John Adams. The church welcomes approximately 250,000 visitors annually, making it one of the ten most frequently visited sites in the Philadelphia region. Visitors can explore the main sanctuary with its original pew boxes associated with prominent figures in American history, or visit the adjacent Christ Church Burial Ground, one of America's most significant Colonial and Revolution-era cemeteries containing 1,400 markers across two acres. The burial ground is the final resting place of Benjamin Franklin and four other signers of the Declaration of Independence, along with many other early American leaders, medical pioneers, and military heroes. The church offers both in-person worship and guided or self-guided tours of the historic buildings and grounds.

Visitor Tips: The church and burial grounds are open daily 11 AM–5 PM (December hours 11 AM–4 PM; closed January–February and on Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving, and Christmas). Admission fees apply for tours and burial ground access. Walk-in tours are welcome, or reserve a guided tour by calling 215-922-1695 ext. 32. The site is wheelchair accessible from 2nd Street.
