About New Light Congregation
New Light Congregation is a Conservative synagogue situated in Pittsburgh's Squirrel Hill neighborhood with a 110-year history of serving the Jewish community. Known affectionately as the "most haimish shul in town," this welcoming congregation serves as a second home for its members, offering a space to celebrate Jewish holidays, festivals, and life cycle events such as Bar and Bat Mitzvah ceremonies. The synagogue emphasizes embracing the living covenant of Judaism and connecting with the broader network of Jewish communities worldwide while fostering commitment to God, Torah, and Israel. Led by Rabbi Jonathan Perlman, New Light welcomes visitors to experience the friendliness the congregation has become known for during Friday evening and Saturday morning services held in the New Light Chapel.
