About St Nicholas Orthodox Church
St. Nicholas Orthodox Church is part of the American Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Diocese, a vibrant community rooted in the rich spiritual heritage of Carpatho-Rusyn immigrants and their descendants. Located in Scranton, Pennsylvania, the parish serves approximately 8,500 faithful across 81 parishes in the United States and Canada under the canonical protection of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople. The diocese was canonically established in 1938 after returning to Orthodox Christianity, having been under Roman Catholic jurisdiction for 300 years. St. Nicholas welcomes visitors to experience the ancient liturgical traditions and sacramental life of the Orthodox Church, which emphasize worship in Spirit and in Truth according to the apostolic faith.
