About First Baptist Church
First Baptist Church in McKinney was organized in 1882 by Rev. A. R. Griggs, with Rev. F. G. Davis serving as its first pastor. A new church was built in 1894 during Rev. R. Curry’s pastorate, and the congregation has continued its life and ministry at its current location on W. Erwin Ave. The church is dually aligned with the Baptist General Convention of Texas and the National Baptist Association. Its teaching emphasizes the Bible as the final authority regarding all issues of life. Weekly gatherings include Sunday worship, Tuesday prayer, and Wednesday Bible study.
