About JUMP

JUMP (Joint Urban Ministry Project) is an interfaith community assistance organization founded in 1988 by five downtown Burlington faith communities and now supported by more than 20 area faith communities. Located at 38 South Winooski Avenue, JUMP serves approximately 2,200 to 3,000 households annually from across Vermont, providing direct assistance and warm hospitality to people experiencing poverty, homelessness, food insecurity, and other hardships. The organization offers utility grants, food vouchers, bus passes, gas vouchers, laundromat and thrift shop vouchers, toiletries, and informed referrals, along with hospitality including coffee, bagels, fruit, and sandwiches. JUMP operates on the principles of respecting the dignity of every person, maintaining an interfaith approach, collaborating across denominations and social service agencies, and advocating for systemic change to address poverty in the community.
