About Sacred Heart Church
Sacred Heart Church, a Catholic parish in Norfolk, Virginia, has served the local community since its founding in 1894, making it the second Catholic parish established in the city. The church building itself, constructed in 1925 in the Florentine Renaissance style, features exceptional craftsmanship including Italian marble altars carved from Carrara marble, stained glass windows created by Franz Mayer & Co. of Munich, and a Midmer-Losh pipe organ built in 1927. Under the leadership of Pastor Fr. Paul Muyimbwa, the parish continues its mission to act as disciples of Jesus by fostering spiritual growth through word, worship, community, and service. The parish offers daily and weekend Masses, religious education programs, sacramental preparation, and various ministries designed to support the faith journey of its diverse Catholic community.
