St. Katherine Orthodox Church is a vibrant, missionary parish serving the Eastside of Lake Washington near Seattle, continuing the 2,000-year-old Orthodox Christian tradition. As a continuation of the original Christian Church founded at Pentecost, the parish welcomes visitors and seekers interested in experiencing authentic Orthodox worship and theology. The church features a rich liturgical tradition with beautiful icons and candles integral to worship, and maintains active engagement with Scripture, theology, and spiritual community. Members come from diverse nationalities and backgrounds, united by their faith in Christ and the Orthodox Church. Dress Code: Not specified — please contact the church directly. Service Format: The Divine Liturgy usually lasts about 90 minutes; Great Vespers services last about 45 minutes; Matins services last a little over an hour. Visitors are welcome to stay as long as they wish and leave when they must. Most Orthodox services feature standing as an act of worship, though seating is available along the walls. Visitor Tips: Non-Orthodox visitors are welcome but cannot participate in Holy Communion. Free pamphlets about Orthodoxy are available near the bookstore at the north entrance. Parishioners are happy to help visitors understand the services; there are no "dumb" questions. Lighting candles and praying in front of icons is welcome for all visitors.
