About Longview Laestadian Lutheran

Longview Laestadian Lutheran Church is a historic Finnish-American congregation rooted in the Laestadian Lutheran tradition, which traces its spiritual heritage back to the evangelical revivals of Lars Levi Laestadius in nineteenth-century Sweden. The congregation traces its origins to a small group of Finnish-American believers who gathered for spiritual nourishment in the early 1900s near the Columbia River, with the first official minutes recorded in 1903. Today the church serves over 400 members and hosts weekly Sunday services throughout the year, complemented by Bible classes, Sunday school, and a variety of community activities including camps, youth programs, and workshops. The church is known for its strong emphasis on the Gospel, repentance, forgiveness of sins, and the centrality of Christ's suffering, death, and resurrection as taught through the Lutheran Confessions. The congregation has grown significantly and continues to welcome visitors seeking meaningful worship and Christian community in a rural setting west of Longview.
