About Cnesses Israel Congregation
Congregation Cnesses Israel, founded in 1904, is a welcoming Jewish gathering place in Green Bay, Wisconsin that has served the local community for over a century. Originally organized by Orthodox congregants meeting in a cantor's home, the synagogue established its current home in 1951 and has evolved into an unaffiliated congregation that embraces Conservative, Orthodox, and Reform traditions. The congregation emphasizes inclusive community, stating that all who enter are family, and welcomes people of all faiths interested in experiencing Jewish life and culture. Beyond religious services, Cnesses Israel hosts community dinners, classes, book groups, sing-alongs, and movie screenings, functioning as a true gathering place for spiritual and cultural life. Led by Cantor Kate Judd, an accomplished vocalist and Jewish educator with advanced training from Hebrew College, the congregation offers both in-person and Zoom options for Shabbat services on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings.
