About Vedanta Center Of Greater
Vedanta Center of Greater Washington, D.C., located in Silver Spring, Maryland, is a branch of the Ramakrishna Order of India dedicated to spiritual development and service to others. Founded in 1997, the center draws from the teachings of Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Sarada Devi, and Swami Vivekananda, rooted in the ancient wisdom of the Upanishads. Situated on a 2.5-acre wooded property, the center features a temple with marble imagery and a prayer hall seating 164, completed in 2013. The community welcomes sincere seekers through daily meditation, worship services, Sunday lectures, weeknight classes, and karma yoga sessions. Under the spiritual leadership of Swami Atmajnanananda and resident monks, the center creates a contemplative atmosphere for those seeking to deepen their understanding of Vedanta philosophy and practice.
