Churches in Petoskey, MI

For a first visit, it is wise to check directly with the church before Sunday, since few churches share Sunday service times. Most worship style details that are available point to traditional services, so visitors should expect that to be common, though there is also a contemporary option noted in the city. Families may want to ask ahead about children’s programming, since kids ministry appears at only a small number of churches and youth group or small group information is not commonly shown. If you are choosing between traditions, consider starting with a church whose identity is clear, such as St Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Epsilon United Methodist Church, or Emmanuel Evangelical Church.

What stands out is the denominational variety within a relatively compact church landscape. Baptist and Methodist congregations are especially visible, but Petoskey also includes Catholic, Lutheran, non-denominational, Church of Christ, Advent Christian, and Christian Science options. Bay View Methodist Church is especially distinctive because it is tied to the Bay View Association, described as a historic Methodist camp meeting and Chautauqua community founded in 1875.
