About St Peter Orthodox Church
St. Peter Antiochian Orthodox Church welcomes visitors to worship in the Orthodox Christian tradition, located in Madison, Mississippi north of Jackson. The parish began as a Bible study in the early 1970s and joined the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese in 1987, tracing its spiritual heritage to the ancient Church of Antioch where believers were first called Christians. Led by Rev. Fr. Herman Lasseter with assistance from three additional priests and two deacons, the church serves approximately 140 members drawn from both convert and cradle Orthodox backgrounds, including families from the Middle East and Eastern Europe. The parish maintains a vibrant Sunday children's school program, active men's and women's groups, and continues to serve the broader Madison community. St. Peter's invites all to join in worship, prayer, and fellowship as part of their ongoing spiritual journey.
