About Theosis Orthodox Christian
Holy Transfiguration Orthodox Church in East Syracuse, New York welcomes visitors from all backgrounds to experience ancient Christian worship as practiced since the early centuries of the Church. Founded in 2001, the parish is a convert-founded community without ethnic or national identity, drawing members from diverse religious backgrounds and serving as a therapeutic spiritual community. The church offers services in English and celebrates the Orthodox Christian faith through the Divine Liturgy, featuring traditional hymns, Scripture readings, icons, and the sacraments. Service Format: Sunday worship includes 8:00 AM Matins followed by 9:30 AM Divine Liturgy with an Agape meal afterward; Saturday Vespers are offered at 5:30 PM. Only those received into the Orthodox Church may receive Communion, but all visitors are welcome to receive a blessing and blessed bread after the service. Visitor Tips: Newcomers are especially invited to attend Vespers for a gentler introduction to Orthodox worship, and families should feel welcome to bring children and step into the narthex or patio if needed.
